Great News!!!

You no longer need an NZDA issued, so called 'athlete licence' to dance in any DSA competition in Australia.

DSA Australia have advised Council that from 16th March 2012 they will give our NZD&DC registered NZ dancers  Honorary DSA Membership for the day (or days) of a competition to enable our dancers to compete in Australia without having to spend any more money on other registrations.

All you need to do is show your NZ drivers licence or passport and your 2012 NZD&DC Registration Card when you uplift your number at the competition.

Simple as that, and it's free!

The competition season is about to commence for 2012 with the Kiwi Classic in Auckland and the Plains Festival in Christchurch. As registration cards have not been sent out yet, please accept that if you have paid your registration fee to Council you will be deemed to be registered for 2012 and Council will advise competition organisers that you are registered. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Registration Cards will be sent out during March

The Competition Dance Calendar has been approved for 2012 and can be found on the 'Competitions' page

Christmas Greetings from the WDC

Merry_Christmas_&_Happy_New_Year_from_the_WDC.doc

Congratulations to all our dancers who recently competed in the Australian Dancesport Championships. New Zealand dancers continue to  make their mark at International events due to the hard work and talent of the dancers and their coaches.

Congratulations to Matthew Rooke & Anna Longmore (Australia) for their respectful protest against the WDSF banning of Couples from their own National Championships - see the news section for further information.

There was also some positive news coming out of Australia for a change. Looks like they are working to correct a very biased and political situation that in turn affects every NZ dancer. Only WDSF registered Amateurs from overseas can dance in Australia - Let us hope they fix this problem without further delay.

For the latest on the evolution of Council to include Amateurs and others on to the Council Board see the Council Page

See the NEWS PAGE for an important announcement about the New Zealand Championships for 2012.

Jonny Williams & Kristie Boyd who were the New Zealand representatives at the Asia Pacific Professional Standard Championships in Tokyo, Japan in September 2011 were placed 6th - Congratulations.

In the Open Professional Standard Event they were 18th out of 148 Professional Couples - well done.
